Pero ¡ojo! el show, no es un show frontal, quiero decir, un show donde el público está sentado, esperando a que lo entretengan, sino un happening donde el público entra al vicio y tiene que decidir como quiere participar : jugando en el concurso de los valores, con la posibilidad de ganar cotización, subiendo el valor de su firma, de su obra, de su persona. o permaneciendo como en el anfiteatro romano, con la opción de abuchear o enaltecer a los jugadores. |
Look! The show, it's not a frontal show, that is, a show where the audience is seated, waiting for what we present. El penacho es el símbolo de la creación de valores. ¿cuanto vale el penacho:? ¿son plumas polvorientes sin ningún valor o es la identidad de un pueblo con un valor símbolico dificil de medir o es una obra de arte única sobre la faz de la tierra y por lo tanto impagable? ¿quién lo decide? ¿cuanto y para quién vale? Para los austríacos vale solamente lo que los mexicanos ven en él. ¿Y para los mexicanos...? me pregunto: ¿sí el único valor del penacho es lo que el espíritu mexicano le da, entonces los austríacos cosechan este valor? Por lo que todavía me pregunto : ¿Es ésta la forma en que el arte funciona? unos producen y los otros cosechan. |
The Penacho is the symbol of the creation of values. How much is it worth? Is it just some dusty feathers with no value, or is it the identity of a people with a symbolic value difficult to estimate? Or, is it a work of art, unique in world, and therefore, priceless? Who decides? How much and for whom is it valuable? For the Austrians, its only value is that which the Mexicans give it. And, for the Mexicans? I ask: If the only value the Penacho has is that which the Mexican spirit gives it, why is it that the Austrians reap this value? All of which leads me to ask: is this the way that art functions? Some sew, yet others reap. |

Veamos pues al sistema de valor de intercambio del arte. Allí también hay métricas de las más diversas. ¿Por qué valen lo que valen los objetos artísticos? ¿cómo se crean los precios? ¿porque suben precios? ¿qué mecanismo existe para cotizar una obra? ¿qué pasos hay que seguir para ser exitoso? |
We can see the system of exchange of value in art. There are within diverse methods. Why do those who value art objects value them? How do the prices rise? Why do they rise? What mechanism exists to price a work? What steps lead to success? |

En "the Penacho Code" los jugadores tienen que tomar decisiones que inciden en la cotización de su valor, cuyos resultados estan a la vista en un display como puntaje tipo fútbol americano y como gráfica estilo bolsa de valores. Hay equipos que compiten, hay un comité evaluador (o sea yo, con mis compañeros austríacos) y un Gran Premio. |
In "The Penacho Code" the players have to make decisions that effect their price, their value, and which results are visiple in a display of points, American Football style, and a graph in the style of the stock exchange. There are competing teams, a committee of judges (or, my Austrian partners) and a Grand Prize. |

El gran premio que por razones obvias no se puede destapar todavía será otorgado al final de la noche. Gracias a dios es cabaret en tiempo real y no la vida misma, así que nos podremos reír un poco sobre estas absurdas distorsiones que planteo. |
The Penacho Code group are we who have found the Value after a long and arduous investigation into the Penacho, evaluating the public presence. The grand prize, for obvious reasons not described as yet, will be presented on the night. Thankfully, it's Cabaret in real time, and not real life, and we're able to laugh a little about the absurd distortions that I suggest. |
